McKenna Officially Gone

Well it was drawn out and we all knew it was coming. In fact yesterday we speculated this would happen today or at least early next week,but McKenna has now officially joined Dele Adebola at Hull.

Since the end of the season there have been noises about McKenna moving on,first to Preston before the Hull rumours. Forest have let McKenna move for free, with a season left on his contract.

I for one think it's a shame to see the back of Paul,but perhaps it is best all round. He was very much Billy's Lieutenant on the pitch,and without Davies here, maybe it's time for him to move on.

Often much maligned for reasons that have always confused me, I think he was always an easy man to dislike as he was never the most attacking player. He did the simple things though that many people don't understand. Always looking to pass the ball simply rather and makes pace than do a McGugan and take an entire team on.

I think the highlight for McKenna may have been his pile-driver against his former club Preston,although he may not agree, he certainly didn't celebrate the goal.

It was becoming obvious during the last few months though that his legs weren't up to the task in the way they once might have been though. Which is a shame,and he was a great leader on the pitch.

It now means we will be looking at a new club captain,and I for one am putting myself firmly in the Luke Chambers camp.

Anyway, thanks Paul, you've been a magnificent servant in those 2 years,and a great captain,good luck at Hull

One Month After We All Knew, Adebola Leaves

It is ridiculous that at the time people shouted this down saying it's not official,despite every quality news source carrying it,but one month (May 24th was when we wrote about it, and we weren't exactly claiming an exclusive)Dele Adebola has sealed his deal with Hull.

Why anyone doubted it I am unsure. They always have to wait till this time to officially sign with their new club anyway, anyone who plays Football Manager knows that, and anyone who remembers the way we signed Adebola should know that. That deal was known for 2 months before anyone officially admitted it had gone through. My greatest memory of Dele will be his complete inability to control Lee Camps punt up field away at Cardiff and bumbling the ball to McGugan to show him how its done from range. Cheers Dele.

Anyway, he is largely expected to be joined by Paul McKenna at Hull in ex Forest dads army on Humberside. That of course is similarly one of footballs worst kept secrets and will out shortly.

In other news, Nialle Rodney is currently on trial at Bradford, who were apparently shocked we had released the guy, despite him being 20,only played a few games,and not doing lots on loan in League 2. Maybe there's a reason Bradford keep struggling.

In other "interesting" news, big Hamza Bencherif has signed for Notts County. What with Westcarr also being there I am expecting them to sign Ross Gardner and Pascal Formann any day now

Transfer Exits Rumours and Round Up

It was well known before and covered before but Nathan Tyson has of course departed to Derby.It says something when our reerve strikers are sought after by Derby. Good luck Nathan but you were no longer good enough.


Today has come the news that it looks likely that Paul McKenna will be moving to Hull City. It was broken by a couple of smaller sites,so I ignored until Sky have gone with it.To be fair to McKenna he is on the wane and has garnered the ire of many of our fans. He does still offer something, but if we are shipping him I wish him well.He was Davies man,so maybe now the Scot has gone McKenna wanted to move on too.

Rob Earnshaw was linked with a move to Palace. One report got it hopelessly wrong when it said we had released him, we haven't. He is still to agree a new deal that is on the table,and it remains to be seen if he will sign. Seeing as Palace are in and out of financial trouble I doubt it will be to them IF he does leave, as his wages aren't exactly cheap.The man himself said on Twitter he doesn't know where he will be next season.Forest have made an offer to Earnshaw,as they have with Moussi.

Julian Bennett has been told if he doesn't find a new club Forest will give him an extra year,to stand by him after his long term injury problems.


Mark Byrne and Niall Rodney have been released.

McKenna to Return to Preston?

I have it from a usually reliable source of mine that Forest may be willing to let Paul McKenna return to Preston as part of a deal to bring Keith Treacy to the City Ground.

Following Preston's relegation many of their star players are looking to move to stay in the Championship and Tracey is apparently a player Forest have targeted. A left winger this would make excellent sense. He is a quality young player.



But as part of this deal s the possibility than McKenna might return to the club where he spent so many years. does this indicate Davies has lost faith in the ageing legs of his skipper? Perhaps. Or it might make sense to be shifting on a player who hasn't performed at his best this season and whose legs are starting to go.

Although this might please many of the McKenna boo boys of which there are many it would be a shame to see a dedicated pro like McKenna leave,and although he might not be the best player, his worth ethic and effort cannot be doubted.

Like I say this is just a rumour and is by no means definitely happening.But this source has been right on a lot before 9and also wrong on occasion

McKenna Set to Return

Paul McKenna looks set to return to the Forest side ahead of the visit of Watford tomorrow. McKenna hasn't started a league game for the Reds since November, but now with injury to Moussi,the skipper will be likely to feature.

Robbie Findley is also unavailable after being injured in training, the full extent is still not known of this injury. Nathan Tyson also remain a doubt with his back injury.

These injuries limit the options available to Billy Davies, which was evident with the appearance of Niall Rodney on the bench against West Ham.
Its the start of a big couple of months for the Reds, who face several promotion rivals. QPR and Cardiff are both coming up, and tomorrows opponents are also in the mix in the top section of the table. Watford have been one of this seasons surprise packages, and will be more than a tricky opponent for the in-form Reds.

The Reds have amazing home form, which they hope will carry them through this potential banana skin. Watford after a good run in December have slipped in January, and will want to bounce back into the top 6.
